EVEN MORE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES

ESMERALDA RESORT IN PALM SPRINGSThis was the view from our balcony!
Our little fish!

Never without a book-even at the pool.
Daniel had his own way of keeping cool while reading. Where was Mom while the kids were reading? In the pool with Stephanie, of course.
It was 99 degrees every day.

EVEN MORE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES

PALM SPRINGS, CALIFORNIA

After our time in Carlsbad, we drove 90 miles to Palm Springs. The 90 mile drive was a winding two-lane 'goat' path through the mountains. The view was spectacular, but it took us a bit longer than we had anticipated! Ninety miles should equal ninety minutes. Oops-that is for Illinois roads, not California roads!!! We stopped at the summit to take in the sunset and stretch our legs before heading into the Palm Desert!

MORE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES

Mom's favorite place in the whole world-the beach!

As part of our Mother's Day celebration, we spent the evening walking along the beach together. We stopped to explore the rock wall barrier for a few minutes and to watch the surfers. After about 10 minutes of watching and staying dry, and enormous wave crashed along the rock barrier and drenched us. It was funny, but very cold!!! BRRRRR!!!!

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ADVENTURES

Legoland in Carlsbad, California
This was our first trip to Legoland! It was a super day for everyone! The weather was perfect-low 70's, and because it was a school day, it wasn't a very busy day. Daniel is a Lego Lover, so this was a piece of heaven for him. Legoland has a really neat area called Miniland. In Miniland, there are miniture models of famous cities and landmarks made entirely of Legos. The details were incredible! Who knew that Legos could be so unique and interesting?

Steph and Mom enjoy their first trip to Washington D.C. together.

After a few laps around the track, Stephanie was a pro at driving the Lego cars. She was so excited because she earned a Lego driver's license.

Such a cutie!!! (The kids are cute, too!)

One of Daniel's favorite Lego creations.
